Restore a youthful appearance and achieve a larger, fuller chest
If you’ve been seeking a subtle way to enhance your image, perk up! Breast augmentation is the answer to restoring a more youthful appearance while achieving a larger, fuller chest. While women choose breast augmentation for varying reasons, the procedure is generally successful for patients seeking to increase fullness, improve proportions and enhance self-confidence. With personalized consultations and procedures, not to mention immediately visible results, breast augmentation procedures with Dr. Connie Hiers Plastic Surgery & Med Spa will help you perk up and Find Your Beautiful.
The procedure: What to expect
Dr. Connie Hiers in San Antonio works closely with each patient to plan for personalized procedures that help women enhance their breasts to achieve their vision of beauty. After completion of a consultation, Dr. Hiers books a surgery room for a patient’s comfort and safety. The procedure typically takes one hour to complete and is performed while a patient is asleep under general anesthesia.
After general anesthesia is administered, Dr. Hiers will make incisions in the tissue of the breasts, in which the implants will be placed. The implants will be placed either behind the breast tissue or beneath the pectoral muscles (depending on decisions made in the initial consultation). Once the implants have been placed, the incisions are closed with sutures and surgical tape to aid in the healing process. Dr. Hiers prescribes recovery directions on a case-by-case basis, and typically, results are immediately visible and continue to improve as swelling from the surgery subsides.
Personalization: implants & incisions
Dr. Connie Hiers offers patients two safe and effective options for breast implants – silicone and saline – depending on the desired outcome in shape and feel of enhanced breasts. Silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel and feel more natural to the touch (similar to breast tissue). Saline breast implants are filled with sterile salt water, and provide a uniform shape that is more firm to the touch (less like breast tissue).
With the option of implants, Dr. Connie Hiers uses one of two incision types during breast augmentation – under the crease of the breast or around the areola. Typically, the type of implant mutually-agreed upon by Dr. Hiers and the patient will dictate the incision type. Ultimately, Dr. Hiers will make final recommendations on implant and incision type based on a patient’s health, age and desired outcomes.
Are you a good candidate?
You might be a good candidate for breast augmentation if:
- you are physically healthy and are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- your breasts are fully developed
- your breasts are asymmetrical
- your breasts have lost or changed shape after extreme weight loss or pregnancy
You might not be a good candidate if you are seeking to correct severely drooping breasts. However, for cases such as this, a breast lift may be suggested with a breast augmentation to achieve fuller, lifted and more youthful breasts. With more than 30 years of extensive experience in breast enhancement, Dr. Connie Hiers can assist patients in making the best decision in procedure type for desired results.
